Hotels in Pattaya

Where you sleep in Pattaya decides what your holiday is. The city is small enough that everything in it is reachable, and divided enough that the four main areas feel like different towns with different prices and different noise. A room that is perfect for one kind of trip is the wrong room for another, and the hotel listings will not tell you which is which. Pick the area first; the hotel is the easy part.

Getting your bearings

Beach Road runs the length of the bay. Central Pattaya is the middle, North Pattaya the quieter top end, and Walking Street the southern tip. Jomtien is the next beach south, past Pratumnak Hill. The airport transfer is roughly the same to all of them and the baht buses run between them constantly, so the choice costs you nothing but a decision — and the decision is about what you want outside your door, not about how far you will have to travel.

Central Pattaya

The obvious choice for a first visit: malls, restaurants and nightlife within walking distance, and the shortest journeys to everything else. Busy day and night, which is either the appeal or the problem depending on why you came.

North Pattaya

Quieter, greener, and further from the noise without being far from it. This is the area families and returning visitors tend to settle on once they have seen the centre — close enough to go in for the evening, far enough to sleep.

Jomtien Beach

A longer, calmer beach with a more residential feel and better sea views. Best if the beach is the reason you came rather than a bonus. You will take a baht bus into town in the evenings, which is cheap, frequent, and part of the experience.

The Walking Street end

For people who want the nightlife on their doorstep. Everything is a short walk away and the noise carries, so check which way the room faces before you book — the difference between a front and a back room here is the difference between sleeping and not.

When to come

November to February is the dry season and the busy one: better weather, higher prices, and the good rooms gone early. Booking ahead matters more in those months than at any other time of year. Outside them you will pay less and share the beach with fewer people, at the cost of some rain.

What to check before booking

  • How far the hotel actually is from the beach, on a map rather than in the description
  • Whether there is a pool — in Pattaya’s heat it matters more than it sounds
  • Which direction the room faces, anywhere near the nightlife
  • Family facilities and Wi-Fi, if either is part of the trip

Hotels by budget

Luxury

Hilton Pattaya and MASON, both with beachfront positions and the service level to match. At this end you are paying for the view and for the quiet that comes with height, and in a city this dense both are worth something.

Family

Holiday Inn Pattaya and Grande Centre Point Space Pattaya, with larger rooms and enough on site that a day without leaving the hotel is a reasonable day. That matters more than it sounds in the middle of the afternoon heat.

Budget

Hotel Amber Pattaya and Flipper House Hotel, long-standing choices for a clean, comfortable room without paying for a view. Pattaya is a city where the cheap end is genuinely usable, and the money saved on the room goes a long way everywhere else.
